This year has been a pivotal one for Hitori Watch Co., as the brand continues to excel in creating exceptional timepieces that deliver remarkable value despite the global challenges. With unwavering resilience, Hitori launched the “Meguro” series—a new collection that brilliantly embodies Japanese design principles. Priced around US$800, this series offers an elegant blend of style and substance, catering to those seeking premium quality without compromise.

The “Meguro” collection showcases several captivating colorways, each inspired by the changing seasons in Tokyo’s Meguro district. The Fuyu White model captures the quiet beauty of winter, while Aki Koyo mirrors the vibrant autumn foliage in the area. A standout within the collection is a collaboration with Thai artist Kolahon. The artist-designed dial depicts the mesmerizing hues of a beachside sunset, capturing the subtle, dramatic transitions of light as day turns to night. This collaboration exemplifies Hitori’s commitment to merging artistic expression with fine watchmaking, creating true wearable art.

To celebrate the Meguro collection’s launch, Gnomon Watches hosted an exclusive event at BoundbyWine, inviting friends, family, and watch enthusiasts to a warm and intimate gathering. Guests were treated to a curated selection of fine wines, sparkling beverages, cheese platters, and artisanal pizzas. The response to the event was overwhelming, with around 60 confirmed attendees, creating an atmosphere of excitement and anticipation.

A special feature of the evening was the debut of a custom red wine created in collaboration between the Gnomon team and BoundbyWine’s owner. This exclusive wine, available only during the event, was a unique highlight. Despite initial hesitation about red wines, one attendee noted how the wine’s smooth, rich flavor from a specific Italian region completely shifted their perspective.

The event opened at 3 PM, with the first guest being Mike Morrison, famously known as “the one-minute watch guy.” Guests were warmly greeted with sparkling wine and a carefully paired cheese selection. Conversations quickly turned to watches, and discussions with Mike sparked potential collaboration ideas, giving followers something exciting to look forward to in the future.

Once everyone had settled in, the Meguro series was officially unveiled, with its intricate craftsmanship and innovative design taking center stage. Past Hitori models were also on display, showcasing the brand’s journey from the original Ryukyu Diver to the Yoshino Cherry Blossom Red released earlier this year. This progression highlighted Hitori’s commitment to constant refinement, evident in their improved case designs, dimensions, and pursuit of dial perfection.

As more guests arrived, the cozy atmosphere at BoundbyWine buzzed with lively conversations. Warm lighting accentuated the watches, which were carefully displayed to draw attention to their fine details and craftsmanship. Guests explored the collection up close, sparking enthusiastic discussions about the artistry behind each piece.

The room soon filled with the clink of glasses and lively chatter, creating an air of celebration. The wine, perfectly paired with a buffet of cheeses and bacon, elevated the experience. The turnout exceeded expectations, as attendees from various walks of life, from singers to engineers, mingled and shared their appreciation for the craft.

By 7 PM, the event reached its peak as guests engaged deeply with the story of Hitori. The Gnomon team shared how the Meguro collection combined generative digital art with traditional watchmaking to create something truly unique. It was the perfect opportunity to express their passion for Hitori and the community of supporters who have embraced the brand.

Samuel, a senior Gnomon staff member with over a decade of experience in the watch industry, delivered an insightful speech about the Meguro collection. He highlighted Hitori’s efforts to elevate their craftsmanship, introducing the Miyota GMT 9-series movement for the first time—an upgrade from the Seiko NH calibers. Samuel explained the extensive effort required to secure these movements through multiple meetings with Citizen’s movement division, emphasizing the dedication behind this collection.

Following the speech, the exclusive "Hitori" wine was uncorked, allowing guests to share in the unique experience as a token of appreciation. Paired with freshly baked pizzas made from Japanese flour by a local artisan, the wine added another layer of detail to the event. Samuel further explained how every aspect of the evening, from the wine to the food, was carefully curated to reflect Hitori’s focus on exceptional craftsmanship.

The positive feedback was overwhelming, with many attendees purchasing pieces from the Meguro series on the spot. To thank them, Hitori gifted buyers a set of exclusive items, including a branded T-shirt, shopping bag, and a bottle of the "Hitori" wine. Staying true to their artisan roots, every gift was uniquely designed and created by the team, making the experience even more memorable.

As the event drew to a close, attendees gathered for group photos and wrist shots of the Meguro collection, capturing the evening’s special moments. While the night was brief, it left a lasting impression on everyone present. Gnomon and Hitori expressed their gratitude to all the supporters, promising that this event marked just the beginning of building a strong, close-knit community of watch lovers.
