A member of Swatch, Mido is one of the quality watch brands in the world with around a century of manufacturing timepieces since its founding in 1918. Based in Le Locle, Switzerland, Mido has a global presence, thank to it's famous water-resistant sports and architectural watches. The word "Mido" originates from the Spanish phrase, "Yo Mido," which means "I measure."
The latest addition to Mido's collection is the Mido Ocean Star 200C Carbon, a limited edition piece with only 888 made worldwide. At first glance, the fundamentals do not differ from the other watches in the Ocean Star series. However, Mido has updated the materials and design choice for this watch.

The all new watch case, which measures a respectable 42.50mm diameter, 12.3mm thick, and 48.5mm lug-to-lug, is now made of carbon fibre composite. Despite a harder material to work with, Mido went for a distinct textured marbled appearance for the casing. The watch exudes a darker gray color that lends a tool-ish outlook, suiting up as a watch meant for extreme sports. Wearing this new timepiece on the wrist would be a comfortable and stylish look.
The choice of Carbon gives the watch resistance to corrosion and increased durability all whilst remaining lightweight and aesthetically pleasing. The remainder of the watch gives off an understated classic vibe, with the flat sapphire crystal with AR coating outlined by a unidirectional bezel with the first 15 minutes of the bezel coated in orange highlighting it's importance. Speaking of which, a black ceramic insert is found along the all-important 60-minute scale for timing purposes. A robust 200m water-resistance is assured by the solid screw-down crown and sturdy case-back.

Large, luminous hands with an orange minute hand indicating applied markers also filled with SLN, tell the time. A day-date function also comes with the timepiece.
Beneath the starfish-decorated case-back is an eminent movement of Swatch's catalog, the Mido Caliber 80, otherwise called the ETA C07.821. This 25 jewelled movement that beats at 3Hz and offers a decent 80h power reserve is offered in Elaboré grade all with a COSC-certified chronometer.
