"REFINED AND UNDERSTATED, EXCLUSIVELY DEVOTED TO WOMEN."
The Rainflower line of watches from Mido was unveiled during the #CreateYourMido participative campaign that was launched in Singapore in November 2018. This campaign invited Mido fans to share their favorite combination of case treatment, dial, strap and precious stones. 4 models were chosen from more than 2400 suggested designs to be part of Mido's new feminine rainflower line-up. This bold effort allowed for the introduction of exciting models by watch fans for watch fans.
Mido Rainflower Rose Gold Pink Ladies Ref. M043.207.36.011.00 |
The name Rainflower is a subtle reference to the Singapore ArtScience Museum, which was shaped beautifully like a lotus flower. The intriguing bowl shape of the museum flaunts a modern, functional design that is not only artistic, but also collects rainwater from the roof of the structure to be reused by the building. This design element is reflected in Mido's Rainflower collection with attractive contemporary designs on its timepieces that also boast practicality courtesy of its exquisite movement with an extended power reserve.
The model that we are focusing on today is the Mido Rainflower "La vie en rose" Ref. M043.207.36.011.00 which flaunts an elegant and intricate design that reflects the architecture of the Singapore ArtScience Museum. This timepiece shows off a PVD rose gold plated stainless steel casing with a case diameter of 34mm and lug-to-lug of 40mm. These elegant proportions hit the sweet spot on the wrists of many ladies as its size gives it a look of sophistication but not compromising on wrist presence. Furthermore, this watch has a slim case profile with a case height of just 9.76mm despite incorporating an automatic movement. This remarkably thin case deems the Mido Rainflower "La vie en rose" perfect for any occasion while offering maximum comfort without pesky bulk and weight on the wrist.

Case and bezel shaped like the Art Science Museum |
What makes this watch a cut above its contemporaries is its bezel design where its unique engraved columns is testament to Mido's careful attention to detail and desire to create a timepiece that has a distinct luxurious character. Another outstanding detail on this watch is its crown design which is especially attractive as the stylish grooves inspired by the design of the ArtScience Museum also allow for enhanced grip for seamless operation.
Moving on to the dial, the Mido Rainflower "La vie en rose" boasts a white grained dial textured with spiral lines that extend out from the middle of the dial, giving the watch an alluring depth while maintaining high readability. The first thing that caught my eye was the 8 shimmering pink sapphire jewels used as indices which bestow this timepiece with luxurious splendour. Additionally, the leaf-shaped handset and indices at 12, 3 and 9 o'clock are treated with a rose gold coating that matches the watch case. Moreover, the date complication at 6 o'clock preserves keeps the symmetry of the dial. The rims of the circular date function cutout are also treated with complementary rose gold coating.
