From a remarkable brand demonstrating excellence in the field of German watchmaking, Damasko's timepieces are best known for their use of innovative and advanced technologies to achieve seemingly over-built specifications, they're simply built like a tank. This time, Damasko unveiled their latest DK32 line which boasts the familiar crosshair dial design with a groundbreaking new in-house automatic movement. With such a big leap for the brand, Damasko is really spicing things up here.
The case of the Damasko DK32 Black is made in-house by Damasko and is the second model after the Dsub1 to be using what Damasko calls "Deutscher U-Boat-Stahl," which translates to be German Submarine Steel. The U-Boat steel is a high strength alloy steel and used extensively in the construction of German submarines and navy ships. The specially bead-blasted submarine steel ensures a high level of durability, scratch and corrosion resistance.

Another unique characteristic of the submarine steel has to be the color of the steel. The dark grey-black colour gives the watch a utilitarian, no-nonsense attitude while balancing with its classic case size and sterile-like dial. All stainless steel components are treated with an abrasion-proof black patented DAMEST Coating providing extreme resistance to scratches.
Despite not being a dive watch, this phenomenal case of the DK32 Black achieves a substantial water resistance rating of 200m. With a tasteful diameter of 39mm, a lug-to-lug length of 48mm and an incredible 9.95mm thin, the watch rests extremely comfortably on the wrist, especially with its pleasing curved lugs design. The crown is also equipped with Damasko's patented lubrication cell which ensures smooth action and lubricates the shaft and the gasket.
German Precision |
A flat sapphire crystal protecting the dial features anti-reflective treatment on both sides which ensures maximum readability regardless of lighting conditions. Next to the dial, is the same design language employed on the Dsub1 and DC80. This time, the DK32 Black features a matte black dial with a crosshair that is now synonymous with Damasko, with a different plot design. Having the date window situated discreetly at the 3 o'clock position with a matching black background, the dial of the DK32 Black remains clean and uncluttered.
The hour and minute hands of the Damasko DK32 are sword-shaped and painted in white, providing a clean, crisp look that enhances the watch's sleek design. In striking contrast, the second hand is fully red, creating a bold and vibrant pop of color against the dial. All the hands are coated with a special luminous paint, ensuring excellent visibility in low light. The hour markers are also treated with Superluminova X1 GL C1 White10, a long-lasting luminous coating that offers exceptional brightness and ensures the watch remains legible even in complete darkness.
Thin profile with curved lugs for added comfort |
The main highlight of the DK32 Black is undoubtedly its latest introduction of Damasko's impressive in-house movement. Driven by the in-house Damasko calibre A26-2 German-made automatic movement, the 20-jewel movement features a power reserve of 42 hours and a beat rate of 28,800 beats per hour.
Moreover, the movement is certified to be shockproof and anti-magnetic in accordance with the DIN 8308 and 8309 standards of the Deutsches Institut für Normung - German Institute for Standardization. Adjusted in 5 positions by Damasko to achieve a high level of accuracy, this latest in-house movement is truly spectacular. For a clear view of the A26-2 movement, the see-through exhibition case back displays Damasko's custom-signed rotor, complete with decorative blue screws.
SuperLuminova index for night legibility |
The DK32 Black sports a 20mm Damasko vintage black leather strap with contrast red and white stitching. Its Damasko-signed secure pin buckle, brings a dressier touch to complement this amazing timepiece without neglecting its durability. And for those who love strap swapping, the DK32 has drilled through lugs for easy spring bar removal.
With Damasko's latest implementation of their very own in-house calibre in their DK32 collection, this elevates the brand to even greater heights, further embodying the precision in manufacturing the German is best known for while presenting a complete package with a formidable exterior and a mighty in-house engine.
