Angles Cerberus Ruby - Ltd Ed 300pcs |
Each Angles timepiece reflects a harmonious combination of Swiss and Japanese mechanical movements with proprietary in-house complications. This approach results in watches that are not only visually distinctive but also mechanically refined, pushing the boundaries of traditional watch design and functionality. Crafted with an emphasis on originality and detail, Angles Watches offers a refreshing take on contemporary watchmaking, appealing to enthusiasts seeking something truly unique.
Having honed years of technological innovation, Angles proudly introduced its inaugural 3-arm wandering hour timepiece, the Cerberus series. This release garnered widespread acclaim from watch enthusiasts globally. The series not only showcases technological prowess but also democratizes access to the intricate designs once exclusive to high-end luxury watches, offering them as a well-priced offering.
Miyota 9039 with Rotating Hour Module |
Wandering hour complications, originally popularized by watchmaking giants like Audemars Piguet and later embraced by avant-garde independents such as Urwerk, are typically reserved for high-end luxury timepieces. These intricate mechanisms are most often found in watches priced well into the tens of thousands, reflecting the rarity and craftsmanship required to execute such a unique display of time.
The Angles Cerberus Ruby is an exemplary model, featuring a steel case with high-quality finishing that highlight its durable construction. It incorporates Angle’s prowess in modifying the premium Miyota 9039 automatic with a unique wandering rotating hour complication, showcasing the brand's innovative design philosophy.
Top double-dome sapphire crystal with antireflective coating |
Inspired by the clean lines of modernist architecture and industrial design, the Cerberus case is strikingly angular and bold. Crafted from 316L stainless steel, it features meticulously balanced dimensions—41mm in diameter, 49mm lug-to-lug, and a slim 8.8mm height (excluding the domed sapphire crystal). The case’s sharp angles and cutout lugs give it a contemporary, masculine edge, making it suitable for wrists of all sizes. The combination of brushed vertical surfaces and polished facets adds depth and visual contrast, complementing the double-domed sapphire crystal (with antireflective coating). Together, these elements create a design that is both distinctive and versatile, effortlessly harmonizing with the innovative three-spoked wandering hours complication.
To complete the 50m water-resistant case, Angles incorporates a sapphire display cutout on its screwed-in caseback. In keeping with the nature of most exotic cases of this caliber, Angles provides enough water-resistant for its wearer to go about its day without worries.
316L Stainless Steel arm, anodized aluminum Rotating hourlisk |
Timekeeping takes center stage on the dial, featuring a red expansive bi-level scale adorned with minute markings in white that glows blue.Angles exclusively feature a red rotating four-sided pyramid, known as the "Hourlisk," which rotates along its axis to display a single numeral with Super-Luminova™, guiding the eye more precisely to the minute register below. Unlike traditional rotating hour complications that use rectangular cubes, Angles innovatively embrace this tapering pyramidal shape, which naturally directs attention from the clearly pointed hour to the minute register. This unique design improves the speed and clarity of reading the time, offering a seamless and intuitive time keeping experience. The current time is displayed as the hour disk moves along the minute scale at the bottom of the dial, with sleek Arabic numerals and a line index for accurate minute reading. While this system may feel unfamiliar at first, it’s surprisingly easy to read and intuitive once worn. The monochromatic dial with its "Côtes de Genève" wave texture enhances legibility, while the bold numerals ensure quick and precise time reading at a glance, making the entire experience both functional and visually striking.
The Cerberus draws its power from a highly modified version of the Miyota 9039 automatic movement. While it shares much of its architecture with the more common Miyota 9015, the 9039, nestled within its steampunk-inspired case, offers remarkable value for a watch with such intricate, in-house complications. This combination of a widely recognized and dependable movement with a unique design makes it not only cost-effective but also practical for long-term ownership. The use of familiar movement components means servicing the watch should be relatively straightforward and affordable over time, especially when compared to more exotic in-house movements.

Despite the Cerberus's exotic in-house enhancements, its core performance remains largely consistent with the more traditional Miyota 9039 movement adjusted with its push-pull crown. This includes a 38-hour power reserve and a 28,800 bph beat rate, reflecting a balance between cutting-edge design and the reliable functionality expected from industry standards. These specifications ensure the watch offers both innovative features and dependable timekeeping, much like other high-quality Miyota movements, while maintaining ease of serviceability.
