Damasko has been widely known within the watch community to produce quality, no-nonsense watches - and this new DC76 chronograph isn’t anything different. Made entirely in-house in Germany, with typical Damasko flair.

Let’s start off with the incredibly reliable movement within. Powering the DC76 chronograph is the in-house C51-6 movement. Boasting an impressive 50 hours of power reserve, it has 27 jewels, beats at 28,800 BPH. Based on the proven Valjoux 7750, It is also shock-proof and anti-magnetic according to DIN 8308 and DIN 8309 standards, respectively. The movement is also adjusted in 5 positions, giving wearers great accuracy. It sits within an anti-magnetic cage resisting up to 1,000 Gauss.

Damasko DC76 with Submarine Steel

The Damasko DC76 comes in at a very wearable case size of 41mm, with a lug-to-lug of 49.7mm. It is 14.6mm thick (including the double-domed sapphire crystal) and comes on a 20mm black leather strap. As with the case material, Damasko uses their patented “ice-hardened steel”. This special steel is 4 times harder than the standard 316L stainless steel that you find on most watches, thus making the whole case and crown both less prone to scratches and corrosion than your other run-of-mill watches. What is so unique about this steel is that they are absolutely nickel-free, offers good corrosion resistance, and can be tempered up to 64 HRC/800Vickers.

The screw-down crown and case-back ensure the DC76 a good 100m of water resistance - a competent depth rating that can handle everyday needs or even jump into the pool for a swim. What’s unique about this rating is how the crown is screwed into the case. It is done according to the “DAMASKO System”. This not only guarantees the water-resistance, low-pressure resistance, functional reliability and is certified at negative pressures and acceleration according to military standards.

German Precision

The main draw of the Damasko is its focus on creating a 60 stop-minute display that reads from the center of the dial, as opposed to the conventional 60-minute sub counter. It offers two key advantages: 60 minutes (instead of the usual 30 minutes) are counted in the counting hand revolution, corresponding to the allocated minute scale seen across the dial’s periphery. Thanks to a new patent design, it is possible to record stop times more easily, accurately, and quickly.

The dial of the Damasko DC76 is a printed matte black dial - giving it a very utilitarian look while providing excellent readability. Long-lasting SuperLuminova X1 GL C1 covers the hands and indices, ensuring maximum readability even in dark conditions. Also, it has a color-matching date wheel at 4 o’clock and features 3 sub-registers. At either side of the 6 o’clock marker, we have “Made in Germany” printed on the dial, proudly showcasing its German roots.

SuperLuminova index for night legibility

Damasko’s watches feature important technical details not visible at first sight. Still, they all come together to ensure that Damasko watches maintain their reputation as one of the most well-built and well-thought watches in the watch industry. In short, if you are in the market for an in-house chronograph with exceptional craftsmanship, the Damasko DC76 is definitely one that should be on your radar.
