Renowned as a historic manufacturer of Swiss-made mechanical timepieces, Le Jour (meaning “The Day” in French) began as a French distributor and retailer for Heuer chronographs manufactured during the 1970s. These chronographs have become highly sought-after timepieces today. Paying tribute to Le Jour’s proud legacy, the brand is revived with sports models inspired by racing, sailing, yachting, and aviation. The wrist watches are constructed using high-end materials and reliable Swiss mechanical movements.
At a time when racing chronographs were booming, Le Jour introduced their 7203 chronographs to the European market in the 1980s - an iconic piece manufactured by Heuer based on the design of the Heuer Pasadena. The wristwatch became an incredibly sought-after model by chronograph collectors as it was an affordable Heuer chronograph alternative. Although Le Jour fell victim to the quartz crisis and perished alongside many great watch brands, they were revived in recent years with impressive vintage-inspired offerings that just look gorgeous - what a way to restore the brand to its former glory.
Recalling their comprehensive knowledge of chronographs from back in the day, Le Jour unveils their latest racing-inspired chronograph that revisits the classic chronograph designs from watches of the late 1960s to the early 1980s. With the legacy of the Mark I and Le Mans Chrono in our collections, Le Jour Watches is thrilled to present the Rally Monte-Carlo Black. The Rally Monte-Carlo is a refined sports chronograph with a unique design and impeccable quality that exudes sophistication and magnificent craftsmanship.
The Rally Monte-Carlo features an ergonomically shaped 40mm stainless steel case with a 48mm length from lug to lug and an overall height of less than 14.50mm, making it an excellent choice for comfortable wear throughout the day. Furthermore, the angular case is finished with a mixture of fine brushed and glossy high polish perfectly complement the chamfer edges of the case. Le Jour didn’t stuck its design ethos from the past, as this new chronograph is forward-looking throughout. It features a fixed brushed stainless steel bezel distilling a modern steel sports watch in which any wearer could enjoy its versatility.
Onto its dial, the masterfully executed horizontal pattern lines on the dial, reflecting a refreshing lifestyle look. Its then combined with the exquisite circular patterned sub-dials, in which measures the running seconds and recorded minutes and hours, creating a visual elegance at every glance. The dial is protected with scratch-resistant sapphire crystal with anti-reflective layers on the inside of the lens, readability is enhanced by the Swiss Super-LumiNova coating on the hands and indices, and a metal frame on the date window blends seamlessly with the symmetry of the dial for a stunning timepiece.
Flipping it over the exhibition case-back showcases the captivatingthe dependable Swiss Selita SW500 automatic chronograph movement. This renowned movement is no stranger to many chronograph lovers, being a tried-and-tested movement with 25 jewels beating at 28,800 beats per hour. Thanks to its expertly engraved screw-down case-back, the watch flaunts a good 100 meters of water-resistance, granting ample protection against accidental water splashes and then some.
The grandeur of the Rally Monte-Carlo is highlighted by a well-executed bracelet that tapers from 22mm to 18mm, with a satin brush finish on the outer links and a shiny mirror finish on the middle links that expresses a penchant for detail. The bracelet is then flushed with folding clasp system, ensuring a seamless look paired with a comfortable wearing experience.
