5 Sleek and Magical Omega Speedmaster Moonphase Watches
It is without a doubt that the Omega Speedmaster Moonphase is one of the illustrious Swiss brands’ most iconic releases. Established in the year 2016 at Baselworld, timepieces from the collection carry the first-ever METAS certification along with a COSC chronometer certification.
Titled the Speedmaster Moonphase Co-Axial Master Chronometer, it boasts incredible rate stability in its co-axial escapement with a zero identified change in rate when worn over a three-day period.
Not only that, the watch is robustly designed to cater to a magnificent magnetic resistance of 15,000 gausses. Keep reading to find out more about this stunning collection and a few of my recommended timepieces.
A Brief Omega Speedmaster Moonphase Review
At first glance, the Omega Speedmaster Moonphase handles a lot bigger than its companions. At a 44.25mm case size with its 16.85mm height, you would presume that it goes large and heavy on the wrist. With a 60-hour power reserve, this timepiece is sure to give you a lasting time reading experience.
Well, you will be glad that it is not at all heavy. Its design is specifically intended to go for a large, dominating look yet remain conveniently comfortable when worn. Due to its sheer size, if the aim is to wear it on formal occasions, it is best to try it on first to get a sense of whether it might fit appropriately underneath a dress shirt.
Alongside that, these timepieces are beautifully adorned in either steel or gold. As it goes, the former version possesses a Liquidmetal made from zirconium-based alloys offering high durability.
Alternatively, the Sedna gold version in red has a ceramic-gold composite for its bezel insert. The highlight of the timepiece is indeed the moonphase feature. Its aperture is conveniently and stylishly located above the 6 o’clock featuring the moon painted gold or silver depending on the design of the watch.
Now on to its crown, aside from its durability, its design lacks the flawless convenience of pulling them out. Furthermore, the lower side comes off as a tad bit sharp resulting in an uncomfortable way of winding the time.
But, this may come as a minor disadvantage as the watch is designed to have 60 hours of power reserve and self-winding properties.
On a larger note, this is ultimately a substantial piece with impeccable features. One particular drawback to note is the less convenient crown. For the moon watch enthusiasts or those who want a particularly “stand-out” timekeeper, this is a stunning choice.
