Yema Watches

While YEMA may not be a name that the masses are entirely familiar with, it is a brand synonymous with the production of fine French-made timepieces and an incredibly rich heritage. Founded in 1948 by French watchmaker Henry Louis Belmont, YEMA has demonstrated remarkable mastery in watchmaking with the creative integration of innovative designs to their ever-dependable tool watches.

Yema, a French Watch Brand You Should Know

Henry Louis Belmont is the man behind the success of Yema. In 1931 he graduated from the National Watchmaking School of Besancon and then decided to build his own watchmaking company in 1948 with the name of Yema. The brand’s name was taken from the imagination of a young student in a school competition that was held by himself. The teenager said that the name would become well-known among other French watchmaking.

Since 1966, the company has been a leading French watch exporter with more than 500,000 timepieces sold worldwide. The office is now located in Morteau, Franche Comte.

Yema Watch Collections

Each collection of Yema watches has its own history of human adventure. The company keeps paying attention to the two main keys, reliability and robustness. They are the first French brand ever who crafted a wristwatch for every professional: Diving, Motorsports, Space and Aviation, and Digital. Take a closer look at how good the brand is. It would make you totally amazed.

1. Diving

The dive watches deliver the most iconic model by constructing the 1960s and 1970s classic features. Its first dive watch, called Superman, was produced in 1963. The watch is considered to be unbreakable because it is powered by automatic movement ETA 2452 and has up to 990 ft water resistance.

As a purpose for professionals, they added a yachtingraf as their improvement to indicate regatta time, used by many French teams while going to the 1972 Olympic Games.

Current dive watches in this collection are equipped with a unidirectional count-up bezel, bigger crown, screw-down crown, and 300-meter water resistance. All bracelets are done in stainless steel, but you can also change into a brown leather or tropic dive watch band if you want. The case has been refined and available in 39 mm and 41 mm diameters.

2. Motorsports

In Circa's early 1970s, the time when motorsports competitions reached the golden age, this company introduced the Rallygraf in the Motorsports collections. This watch was first worn by the driver Mario Andretti, a legend in the history of racing. Not only for reading the time but it is also equipped with a tachymeter on the bezel which has a function to measure the driver's speed.

The latest models in the Motorsports collections have been reissued with two alternative movements, Heritage Chronograph which is done in leather strap, and Mechanical Quartz Chronograph using a Milanese mesh bracelet. All stainless steel cases have a 39 mm diameter size. This collection is suitable for every racer and car enthusiast.

3. Space and Aviation

Their improvement continued in the Space and Aviation category. Flygraf was introduced in 1978 to fulfill every pilot's needs. In this collection, Yema offers a logarithmic bezel that allows you to calculate altitudes, speed, distance, and how much the fuel consumption is. For its movement, they used ETA 7750 caliber.

In collaboration with France Air Force since the 1970s, this watch brand has been designing the watch for space exploration and sky enthusiasts with tachymeter technology. Each timepiece shows you a different character: choose Aviation if you love Arabic markers, French Air Force for military specifications, and the last one is Zero-G which is produced to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the France Space Agency. All watches have a 39 mm diameter case and come in minimalist colors: black, navy, and silver.

4. Digital

Looking for a contemporary digital timepiece? Let’s take a look at Digital collections. Unlike the three categories above, you will have a unique display using LED and Digidisc in a rectangular shape. These were made as tributes to the historical quartz crisis period.

Each bracelet in two categories has various case diameters with 100-meter water resistance. In the end, this is a good option for you who want to try unusual things or complete your collection. Deep meaning inside, rich features outside.
